Left my credit card at the bar overnight. Came back the next day to close out. My tab was closed out, courtesy of Windjammer, with a 30% gratuity added on to my check. Bartender told me that I should not have left my card and that it is Windjammer's policy to add their own arbitrary gratuity to anyone who forgets to close out a tab. I asked to see where this policy was stated in the establishment. He could not document it. I called my credit card company and they told me this" policy" constitutes credit card fraud as I did not authorize the tip or the charge.

Some things never change, and the Jammer is one of them. You can't help but relax with the laid back divey atmosphere inside, super chill bartenders, and breathtaking views outside on the deck. Challenge friends or foe to a game of Volleyball if you're hanging out back by the beach or sit back with a cold one and watch in the captain's chairs like the rest of us. LOL. After frolicking in the mist or pounding some balls in the sand, I recommend heading inside for one of the best hangover prevention burgers in town, although I prefer the hand battered corndogs with tater tots. When the sun goes down, don't be surprised to catch fresh local talent or big time favorites like Big Head Todd & the Monsters, Sister Hazel and Widespread Panic playing center stage. The untamed energy in this bar at night and beach bum atmosphere by day are the charms that keep me coming back all year round. Whether you fly by day or by night to The Windjammer, you're guaranteed to find good music, friendly bar staff & a jam good time!

What a fun place to have a drink. Right on the beach, volleyball court below the deck, comfy adirondack chairs to gaze at the ocean and CHEAP drinks. My husband's father and uncle, who are in their late 60's now, used to party here back in the day. Nuff said!

This is my "go to" place in Isle of Palms. It's just pub grub, but it's done right, be it a fish sandwich or a hamburger is always cooked just right!

My wallet and my liver would be in SERIOUS trouble if I lived anywhere near this wonderful place. We stopped in the other day after walking around the neighborhood for my gf's bachelorette party and liked it so much we stopped back in that night. The day shift bartender was a little gruff at first, but the night shift bartenders were absolutely amazing! They played a couple of our music requests during the day AND helped facilitate our dance battle in between band sets. My group and I had so much fun, we can't stop talking about this place! The two bands they had were great and there was a really chill vibe on the dance floor! Plus, everyone we met there were friendly and drinks are fairly cheap. The bathrooms are a little scuzzy (hence the not quite perfect score), but man is this a fun place to be!

This place is a normal bar with a great view. My only real complaint is the clientele. Wow. If you want to go there and hit on drunk chicks, or if you're a lady and want to get hit on by douchy drunk men - it's your place! If that sort of thing bothers you, stay away! My douche bag meter was reading 11 out of 10!

This is a great bar. I've only been here when the sun is going down or down, and the bar is basically empty. I love to grab a beer and sit outside and watch the ocean or stare at the stars. It's very relaxing. I live the life guard type wooden chairs they have lined up. The staff have always been very friendly.

If you are staying at Isle of Palms this is a cool place to visit and have a drink on the back deck overlooking the water. Kind of a dive bar. Live music and this place gets packed if you are looking for active nightlife.
(5)Amy J.
Your typical beach bar! Dark inside, with great beach-front property out back. We went here to watch the World Cup which they had playing on multiple TVs and a big screen. Great place to go and mingle in your shorts, tank & sandals.

You can't head down to Isle of Palms without checking out the Windjammer. Are you gonna find tourist's there? Is it a place where the sand meets the water? The answer to both questions is a resounding Yes. Any bar that is literally on the beach is guaranteed to have tourists, no need to whine about it. If I was visiting, I would want to go too. For a pretty basic bar/restaurant, the Jammer keeps it coming with entertainment. If the weather is warm, and the sun is out, there will be a crowd here. Whether you are escaping the sun for a daiquiri, playing volleyball on the court, or ogling the volleyball players from the porch, it's not a boring place. Volleyball tourneys seem to pop up all the time as well. Maybe get a pick up game going. Sunday Fun-day? On Sundays in the summer, The Windjammer holds a weekly bikini bash that leads to a finale with a pretty hefty cash prize. Typically a fun day and things get lively. When the sun goes down, the night rages on with live music. Often local tunes but, I have seen some decent shows including Grace Potter and Crowfield. It's big for a bar, but small for concerts. If it's gonna be a busy one, I would suggest arriving early to claim some space. My biggest complaint is the price of the drinks. They are a bit high but, somewhat expected for the location and considering it is a Music venue. I haven't confirmed myself but, I hear that when they kick people out to re-admit everyone for a concert (if you want to stay from day to night, when there's a concert, you need to leave and come back in so you can pay the cover charge if one is being collected) they raise the price of the drinks. If it's true, I'm not a fan of that kind of behavior.

The jammers a must stop by all. IOP offers beautiful beaches, people, and even water at times, but let's be honest the one thing IOP will not allow whatsoever is alcohol. Don't let that get you down, come to the Jammer for a damn good time. No matter what your looking for they got you covered: live music, volleyball, bikini contests, and most importantly, a full service bar waiting to take your order.

Been coming here for years. On the beach...inside and outdoor seating. Bands. Cute bartenders. Great place to watch the cuties play volleyball while enjoying a cold one. One 4th of July my group and I didn't leave for (I swear) 48 hours!!!!
(4)Opal D.
A great beach bar - volley ball, cheap drinks, live music, and good bartenders.
(4)David D.
Yeah. Five stars. We've got a soft spot for this place and it is due to the employees and owners. There is no other place in the area like it. Friendly, well managed, staffed with the best folks around, and their music attractions and fantastic in-season and off-season activities make it a must visit. Food is always good and you can't beat the view from the deck. It will always be a huge fave of mine.
(5)Andrew W.
The Windjammer is kind of hard to explain...the actual inside part is relatively divey. It's more or less just a big open area with not a whole lot going on. During live music shows it's almost as if you're on stage with the band which is good and bad...great to see them up close but it's loud loud. The food is actually quite good...and during the off season they have the best deal on oysters around town. Once you step out onto the back deck you'll really realize the huge draw everyone has to the Jammer. Beautiful views and it's own walkway to the beach, along with their own private volleyball court. Also, every Sunday during the summer they have their own bikini contests that pay out a $500 cash prize...entertaining.

I only come by when the Piedmont Boys are playing. Needs a better beer selection for the prices!
(3)V D.
Cool place to watch some football and enjoy the beach.. They don't have a very big menu but the food wasn't that bad. Only giving four stars being the menu need some work but otherwise cool beach atmosphere. Will visit again for sure
(4)Kenny R.
I'm sure the vibe changes depending on what music is playing but the 2 night run of the disco biscuits out there was on point. A little over-crowded, but decent acoustics. Great time, great party. They told me they never sold so much pbr till we came to town. Chicken sandwich and burger are definitely edible. FYI:They have stone IPA in bottles.
(4)Margaret A.
What a great place on the ocean, outdoor seating, great drinks and the nicest staff! We had the flounder and cab legs! Yummy!
(5)Tyler L.
Windjammy jam...the pearl of Isle of Palms. When I say pearl, I mean closer to a dive, but it is perfect. Outdoor volleyball court during the day and live music at night, what more can you ask for? We did our share of rocking out over three days here and it obliged our ridiculousness. It was never packed, but it was always crowded enough to create a scene. This is a drinking place...the food is frozen and fried. if you don't want to go all the way in to Charleston, this is a fine backup option.

Been going to the Windjammer since I was 18 (yes, the legal age was 18 way back then). Great location, great food, great bar! Always a jam good time!
(5)Debra H.
Extremely disappointed! Entire family headed down here for an event to see Will Hoag! Tickets stated 9pm to 1:30am! 10pm...still standing around...stage empty! Don't waste your money!

Windjammer is a great beach bar with pool tables and upper and lower outdoor patio seating. There is also bar jenga outside which is very fun. Great views, simple menu. I did not eat just drank. Prices aren't expensive but also aren't inexpensive. A happy medium for the ambiance. Bar tenders are friendly! They also have a beach volleyball court! All in all great place to bring friends and drink with a view of the beach and grab a quick bite to eat.
(4)Elijah W.
This is the best place on the face of the planet!! Everyone is having fun, and it's always a great place to meet people. Have the chicken fried steak sandwich..!!!
(5)Holly H.
I wanted to drink with a view of the beach. This place made it happen. And they topped off their spectacular location with reasonably-priced drinks and ok bar food. It was dead when we were there, but it was 3 pm on a Wednesday, so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.
(3)Keith M.
Just a cool beach bar. Just your average bar food Cheap drinks. Cool place to hangout

The Jammer as it is known to locals, is a staple of the Charleston area - particularly on the Mount Pleasant side. Located across the connector on Isle of Palms, it is a mix between a pretty big dive bar, live music venue, and beach deck all in one. It is directly on the ocean, so if in the midst of a few Fireballs you get the urge to jump in the water... one staircase will get you there. Their back deck is one of the most relaxing beachfront spots you can find... unless you happen on a summer Sunday at 6pm. That's bikini bash time! And it is definitely a fun scene. 2013 bash season has since wrapped... but locals should certainly keep that in mind for next year. Quite a few tourists do pop in, but its a pretty open, large venue so usually they won't cramp your style. The bartenders are on point as well... which even during tourist pops helps keep the atmosphere incredibly chill. The Jammer also is the host to pretty great live shows from well-known acts to local celebrities (Larry David Project in particular are one of my faves)... and your occasional surprise performance by an artist that may be in the area playing at one of the larger venues. You just never know what you are going to get at the Jammer, but it is guaranteed to be a good time!!

This bar is makes a lot more sense to locals than it would for the vacationer I'm guessing. And the reason I say that is because sometimes this place is completely packed when a band is playing and it may take a few minutes to get served on which should be expected anywhere when it's so busy. Other than that, I love the bartenders here. They are all super friendly, sociable, and easy on the eyes. It has beautiful views of the ocean! they also have volley ball, pool tables, and dart boards. The prices are always reasonable with heavy pours for shots. They also have very very good food here. The double cheese burger is quite perfect. This place is simply put, is just fun!

Saturday night out on "the town" IOP and Windjammer is the spot.. good bartenders, good live music and in the middle of everything at IOP.. check out their website for live webcam shots of inside and out.. always helps to see whats happening even it you can't be at the beach. We'll be back.

So, this review is for Greg. At the Sam Bush concert Friday night, the bartenders sounded a painfully loud fire station horn 2/3 through the (stellar) performance, and again as the band was winding down. Sam Bush loves to play several encores, but it is kinda hard when he's competing with a fire station horn-and a cow bell. Did I mention the cow bell? Sam Bush? Five stars, every time. *Update. I've been corrected. It was a half time buzzer, not a fire station horn.

Great big bar or mid sized music venue holds probably 550 and the Disco Biscuits played here over the summer. During Carolina Oyster season (late oct, nov, jan, feb, part of march) they offer $10 buckets about two and a half dozen oysters. Nice place!
(4)Nick T.
cool place. prices were reasonable, but i have one gripe. We sat at the bar and ordered foood. after waiting a while we started to wonder what the hold up was and then i hear in the smallest decible, my name over a speaker. hey guess they called my name for my food to get picked up. didnt realize i needed to pick it up myself. pretty stupid. turn the speaker up some

I went there on Aug 14th around midnight. All I can say is worst bartender service I have ever had. The worst. If I didn't yell or start a fire this guy didn't move. And this is all aside from the fact I paid 18 bucks for a vodka/sprite, a miller light, and a Malibu Bay Breeze. Above all that I would have spent much more if the bartender did his job. That dude needs to be fired.

Didn't eat, but great spot to hang and watch volleyball, beach, kite surfing, etc.

i'm starting a support group for the breathing-impaired. they have been ignored far too long, and it's time someone addressed the problem. we will meet nightly at ac's and saturday afternoons at the windjammer (because everybody breathes easier in a smoky bar). there are some basic guidelines for the meetings: members are allowed to speak only when a ciggie is in hand and after first buying a round of key lime pie shots (key lime pie shots, like ciggies, are nourishment for the lungs). there will be a support group for alcoholics following, and the only rule for those meetings is you have to have a beer in hand to talk (otherwise how would we know you're an alcoholic?) and prior to addressing the group (ie, taking shots) you must say, "i'm so-and-so, and i'm an alcoholic." the last rule is: you must make moves like michael jackson and always wear a hat. welcome to the ether.

Hi all, We showed up on Thursday last week about 1230 in the afternoon and a dozen of us ate and drank for a few hours. The staff made us feel welcome and comfortable. Thank you all from a piece of the crew of the USS NARWHAL SSN671! Pappy and Shirley

I honestly don't know why I love this place so much. Is it the locals only feel? Is it the menu of 5 items? Is it because it is the first place I had Yuengling on draft? Is it because everytime I go here I have an amazing time!?!? YES. Seriously I can't put my finger on why I HAVE to go here everytime I am in Charleston and love staying on Isle of Palms just to be closer. Damn you Windjammer. You and your sirens call. I will return.
(5)Bill M.
Only been there during the day, during the sunny warm, hot summer beach day. Simple goal, drink enough Corona's (limes for lunch this day) that the walk back down to the Sea Cabin must be done on the beach so you don't get hit by a car. Oh yes, I'm drinking these Corona's sitting on a picnic table, watching a pick-up volleyball game in the foreground while the surf pounds in the background. I can't do this often, but it's a treat when I take the time.

This place is not to be missed when hanging out in Isle of Palms. The Windjammer is an awesome venue to take in a live musical performance by some of today's up and coming artists. It also is a kick ass beach bar. The beer is cold, the burgers are sweet, and the atmosphere says "beach bar" all the way. A can't miss if you are in Isle of Palms.
